Bob Porter Discusses New Book at Detroit Jazz Festiva

Share This:

Bob Porter, a record producer, jazz writer, and broadcaster, recently appeared at the Detroit Jazz Festival to discuss his new book Soul Jazz: Jazz in the Black Community, 1945-1975.

The book compiles a history of jazz in the black community from the end of World War II through the end of the Vietnam War. Soul Jazz uniquely chronicles a history of jazz and its reception in the black community from the perspective and reaction of the black community, unlike other books that have reflected on the perspective of an integrated America.
