First Annual Jazz Industry Day Kicks Off In September

August 9, 2018

The first annual Jazz Industry Day will be held at Temple Performing Arts Center on Thursday, September 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with an after party scheduled at SOUTH Jazz Kitchen following the conference.

A coalition of Philadelphia jazz organizations including representatives from WRTI 90.1 FM, Temple Performing Arts Center, Philadelphia Jazz Project, Jazz Lives Philadelphia, SOUTH Jazz Kitchen, and All About Jazz & Jazz Near You are hosting the one-day conference, which will represent a gathering place for musicians, industry professionals, and educators to learn, network, and exchange ideas. The event will also celebrate two living legends of Philadelphia Jazz: saxophonists Bootsie Barnes and Larry McKenna.

The day’s events will include a meet the experts / roundtable session, a networking event, and a performance and awards ceremony.

“This first event of its kind in Philadelphia, our hope is to bring the entire jazz community together in one place to help expand professional networks, learn from experts and develop professional skill sets, foster business collaborations, all with the continued goal of building a more cohesive jazz community that’s beneficial to all,” says a statement from the event coordinators.

Musicians, students, concert and festival presenters, journalists and media representatives, radio programmers, record label representatives, publicists, managers, and agents are all invited to attend.
