Hammond B3 Organ Film On the Way

A new film entitled “Killer B3” is currently in post-production, promising a vast collection of footage and interviews with notable B3 performers, including the late, legendary Jimmy Smith, credited with first incorporating the instrument into live music clubs in the ‘50s. from the church to the club in the 1950s.

Tampa filmmakers Murv Seymour and Joe Bamford say the film showcases footage of Jimmy McGriff performing (as well as his memorial service), Tudy Pitts, Joey DeFrancesco, Tony Monaco, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Atsuko Hashimoto, and more.  “Killer B3” is scheduled for release in January 2013 at film festivals throughout the U.S.
