Hudson Valley Jazz Festival Caps off in August

The 8th annual Hudson Valley Jazz Festival takes place this August 17 through 20, offering styles as varied as traditional to gypsy jazz, modern, be-bop, acoustic and funky electric. The series aims to highlight the great many Hudson Valley local artists whose talent in many cases is on par with these marque name jazz musicians. Warwick, Newburgh, Nyack, Greenwood Lake, Chester, Goshen, Peekskill and SugarLoaf all participated in the festival.

The featured show of the festival brings local artists Jeff Ciampa of Warwick and Pete Levin together with together with ex-Miles Davis and Return to Forever drummer Lenny White, saxophonist Alex Foster from “Saturday Night Live” and Ira Coleman, formerly with Tony Williams.

Shows during the festival take place in various venues, such as an outdoor courtyard, cafes, clubs, restaurants, community centers, organic farms, art workshop spaces, and housing development performance rooms.

Most shows in the annual festival are free, those with a fee are modestly priced.
