Dave Grohl ES-335

Gibson Memphis introduces the Dave Grohl ES-335. Built to the specs of a great vintage ES-335, the Dave Grohl signature model also exhibits visual characteristics of the Trini Lopez model of the ‘60s, a guitar that Dave has played on several Foo Fighter tours and recordings. The foundation follows the familiar laminated maple top and back, with a solid maple core with cedar rim liners, with characteristic diamond f-holes in the guitar’s top like the Trini model that inspired it. The mahogany neck is glued in with a historic large mortise-and-tenon joint, and has a dark, one-piece rosewood fingerboard with acrylic split-diamond inlays and a Corian™ nut cut on a PLEK. This limited edition sees 200 available in Pelham Blue Metallic and 400 in Gold Metallic finish. From $3699.

Ken Franckling’s Jazz in the Key of Light

Jazz in the Key of Light, Eighty of our Finest Jazz Musicians Speak for Themselves. It illuminates more than 80 musicians through a different format than the traditional fine art photography book. Images of its featured jazz artists, in performance or moments of personal reflection, are paired with essential quotes from interviews Franckling had with those musicians for a variety of mainstream and music publications over the past 30 years. The spotlighted musicians range from legends Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughan to a variety of today’s rising stars in jazz, including bassist and singer Nicki Parrott, singer Gregory Porter, and alto saxophonist and composer Miguel Zenón. Newport Jazz Festival founding producer George Wein wrote the foreword.
