2015 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition Repertoire Released

DANSR recently announced details for the 2015 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition.  The repertoire has been announced and the deadline for submissions has been set as Monday, December 15, 2014. Eligible entrants will be between 18 and 23 years of age, and will submit a recording of the required repertoire to be judged by a panel of distinguished Vandoren performing artists. Grand prize winners will receive a cash prize, a trip to 56 Rue Lepic in Paris, the home of Vandoren, a product package including Vandoren reeds and a Vandoren mouthpiece and ligature, and the opportunity to perform on the winner’s concert in March 2015.

Repertoire for Classical Clarinet will include a selection from Copland’s Concerto for Clarinet, Robert Schumann’s Fantasiestucke, Op. 73, and a contrasting work of the entrant’s choice. Classical saxophone repertoire will be a selection from Tableaux de Provence by Paule Maurice, a selection from Fuzzy Bird Sonata, by Takashi Yoshimatsu, and a contrasting work of the entrant’s choice.

Finally, repertoire for jazz applicants will include one choice from each of the following categories: Ballad (Portrait of Jenny, Too Young to Go Steady, Stardust, Lush Life, Chelsea Bridge), Medium tempo (East of the Sun, Stolen Moments, September in the Rain, I Remember You, Fried Bananas), and Up-tempo (Just One of Those Things, Airegin, The Way You Look Tonight, Cherokee, The Night Has a Thousand Eyes).
