2021 DC JazzFest Meet-The-Artist Interview Series Schedule Announced

Christian Wissmuller • News • August 20, 2021
The 2021 DC JazzFest will feature the fan-favorite Meet-The-Artist interviews where attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from this year’s performers in an interactive and educational environment. Meet-The-Artist interviews are designed to provide DCJF audiences with artist insights off the bandstand, presenting unique opportunities to learn about these creative people beyond their performances. These sessions serve to “demystify” the jazz art form for our audiences, providing them with ample occasion for their own inquiries and questions to artists beyond those posed by our interviewers.
This year’s Meet-The-Artist series will feature interviews with Regina Carter, John Scofield, Oscar Hernandez, Maria Schneider, Dayramir Gonzalez, Pedrito Martinez, Jenny Scheinman, Orrin Evans, and Kim Taylor, the daughter of the late Dr. Billy Taylor whose Centennial will be celebrated at this year’s festival. All of the interviews will be conducted by DCJF’s CEO and President Sunny Sumter or the festival’s Artistic Director Willard Jenkins.
*Registration is required to attend Meet-The-Artist interviews. Registration for a Meet-The-Artist ticket does not guarantee admission to the 2021 DC JazzFest. Festival attendees are required to register for general admission or purchase a ticket to gain admission to the festival. Festival registration or ticket purchases can be completed by clicking the “GET TICKETS” button below.*
