Columbus Jazz Orch. Sets Rosa Parks Tribute for January

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of civil rights legend Rosa Parks, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra will present “Suite Rosa” at the Lincoln Theatre in Columbus. The suite is the result of collaboration between choreographer Alexis Wilson and composer John Clayton as a re-interpretation of the seven-minute ballet, “Rosa,” that dramatically explores the feelings and emotions of Parks’ famous bus conflict in 1955. The concert will also perform Clayton’s “African Spirit” and a new commissioned work by Clayton and Wilson, along with the spoken word of Keith “SPEAK” Williams and vocalist Bobbi Townes.
