DC Jazz Festival Partners with The Corner at Whitman-Walker for Jazz at the Corner Series

DC Jazz Festival is partnering with The Corner at Whitman-Walker to co-present Jazz at The Corner, a concert series of jazz ensembles in performance that will be a part of The Corner’s upcoming Stay Alive To Life! festival and exhibition series.

Curated by DCJF Aritistic Director, Willard Jenkins, it features jazz artists from the LGBTQI+ community. A 15-minute pre-concert Meet-the-Artist conversation will start off each of the seven Thursday afternoon performances and the first concert will occur on May 13th.

“DC Jazz Festival is delighted to partner with The Corner at Whitman-Walker to bring jazz to this vibrant cultural center,” said DCJF Executive Director Sunny Sumter. “The Corner’s dedication to brining different ideas of culture and diverse communities in contact with one another aligns with our mission of unifying diverse communities and enabling connections between artists and audiences.”

These performances will be attended in-person with a capacity of 15 guests, with all shows adhering to the latest health and safety guidelines laid out by the DC Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention which can be found here.

  • May 20 – Steve Washington & Friends
  • May 27 – Joshua Espinoza Trio
  • June 3 – Simone Baron Quartet
  • June 10 – Landon Paddock Group
  • June 17 – C. Corey Bey Black Folks Don’t Swim?
  • June 24 – J Chris Quartet
