The University of Manitoba’s Desautels Faculty of Music Jazz students and faculty are taking the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival by storm this year.
TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival opens this Thursday, June 16 with four nights of free performances at The CUBE Lounge (Old Market Square) and runs through to Sunday, June 26.
The festival will be packed with performances featuring many students, alumni and faculty of the Jazz Studies Program.
On Friday, June 24 Steve Kirby’s Oceanic Jazz Orchestra will be performing the Longitude Project at the West End Cultural Centre and will feature special guest artists: Paul Hanson, Bassoon (San Fransisco)
Joel Ross, Vibraphone (New York) Mike Eckert, Pedal Steele Guitar (Toronto), Jeremy Buzash, Violin, (Winnipeg),Jon Gordon, Saxophones (Winnipeg), Derrick Gardner, Trumpet (Winnipeg)
Professor of Jazz Drumset, Quincy Davis, will lead a trio along with Steve Kirby & Will Bonness for the Late Night Jam Session at the VG Lounge in the Fairmont hotel from Tuesday June 21 – Saturday June 25, 11pm.
