Juilliard_JazzJuilliard Jazz presents Federal Government and States Rights: The Music of Ferdinand Joseph La Mothe “Jelly Roll” Morton and Joe “King” Oliver on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 8 pm in Juilliard’s Paul Hall. The guest coach is clarinetist Dr. Michael White. Extremely limited quantities of free tickets are available online. Members of the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble who will be performing the music of “Jelly Roll” Morton are tenor saxophonist Ruaridh Pattison, trombonists Samuel Chess and William Hawley, trumpeter Nathan Sparks, pianists David Linard and Benjamin Rosenblum, bassist Daniel Chmielinski, and drummer Charles Goold. Members of the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble who will be performing the music of Joe “King” Oliver are alto saxophonist Zoe Obadia, tenor saxophonist Julian Lee, trumpeter Noah Halpern, trombonist Kyle Johnson, guitarist Andrew Renfroe, bassist Devin Starks, pianist Taber Gable, and drummer Andrew Wangemann.
