Juilliard Jazz Presents “The Music of Thelonious Monk”

juilliard-jazz-artist-diploma-ensemble-photo-by-hiroyuki-itoJuilliard Jazz presents “The Music of Thelonious Monk” featuring the Juilliard Jazz Artist Diploma Ensemble, the most advanced Juilliard Jazz musicians, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at 7:30pm in Juilliard’sĀ Paul Hall. Juilliard Jazz Artist Diploma Ensemble members are Samuel Dillon (tenor saxophone), David Neves (trumpet), Eric Miller (trombone), Douglas Marriner (drums),Martin Jaffe (bass), and David Meder (piano). Juilliard Jazz guest artist Eric Reed will coach the performers, along with faculty member and resident coach Ben Wolfe. Mr. Reed will also be at Juilliard on Friday, September 30 to give a master class entitled”Accompanying the Jazz Vocalist.”

The ensemble will perform Monk tunesĀ Work, San Francisco Holiday (Worry Later), Skippy, Off Minor, Thelonious, Crepuscule with Nellie, Criss Cross, ‘Round Midnight, Brilliant Corners, Gallop’s Gallop, Pannonica, Boo Boo’s Birthday, Coming on the Hudson, and Introspection.
