Montreal Jazz Fest Swings to Success

Montreal boasted its legendary joie de vivre over the 10 days and nights at the recent 2013 Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.  The city hosted a wide variety of concerts from jazz to hip-hop, blues to country, intimate to wide-screen. The 34th annual installment of the festival proudly ran without a deficit again this year with a 33? Increase in revenue generated by sales of new tourist packages. A number of major downtown hotels also reported an approximately 30% increase in American visitors for the Festival period in comparison with last year’s event. Performers included folk and world music stars like Feist, Wax Tailor, and Amadou & Mariam as well as jazz heavyweights like Vijay Iyer, Ravi Coltrane, Gregory Porter, Wayne Shorter, Wynton Marsalis and more.
