NEC Jazz Studies Hosts Holland In New Residency

New England Conservatory’s Jazz Studies Department will host a residency with renowned bassist, composer, and bandleader Dave Holland from Tuesday, September 17 through Friday, September 20. Holland’s residency will include master classes with NEC students and a culminating concert. All events are free.

Thursday, September 19 at 1 p.m., there will be a Dave Holland Master Class in the Eben Jordan Ensemble Room, 255 St. Botolph St., Boston. The Music of Dave Holland Residency Concert will take place on Friday, September 20, 8 p.m. at Brown Hall, 290 Huntington Avenue, Boston.

The events are part of Jazz50, the year-long 50th anniversary celebration of NEC’s internationally renowned Jazz Studies Department, the first fully accredited jazz studies program at a music conservatory. The celebration includes concerts and events in Boston and NYC featuring many of the school’s distinguished jazz alumni, faculty, students and special guests including Matthew Shipp, Ran Blake, Ethan Iverson, Joe Morris, Fred Hersch, Luciana Souza, and many others.
