Stanford Jazz Wraps up 2013 Season

Share This:

Over 10,000 jazz fans enjoyed the Stanford Jazz Festival this summer, attending concerts by everyone from Herbie Hancock to the magnificent Stanley Clarke Trio and Chucho Valdés. Nearly 200 jazz musicians from around the world converged on the Braun Music Center for a week of intensive study, practice, and performance. From the excitement of the Songwriting @ SJW program to the depth of the vocal program and from the bebop of Harold Mabern to the montunos of Chucho Valdés, the week provided a lifetime of inspiration and growth, and rekindled a love of jazz for many. Enrollment for the 2014 Jazz Institute will open in November; watch for future issues of the SJW E-news to get details.

Both weeks of the SJW Jazz Camp were packed with young musicians from all over the world. The level of musicianship was extraordinarily high this year, as was the level of seriousness with which this group of students approached their studies, their performances, and their fun. Enrollment for the 2014 Jazz Camp will open in November.
