New York-based Harlem Quartet has been praised for its “panache” by The New York Times and hailed in the Cincinnati Enquirer for “bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent.” Harlem Quartet has three distinctive characteristics: diverse programming that combines music from the standard string quartet canon with jazz, Latin, and contemporary works; a collaborative approach to performance that is continually broadening the ensemble’s repertoire and audience reach through artistic partnerships with other musicians from the classical and jazz worlds; and an ongoing commitment to residency activity and other forms of educational outreach.
The US Army Blues
Jazz Concert: Thursday, December 16 @ 7:30 PM
The U.S. Army Blues, part of the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” is the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Army. After informal beginnings in 1970, this 18-piece ensemble became an official element of the Army Band in 1972. Comprised of exceptional jazz musicians from across the nation, the Army Blues strive to fulfill their mission through public concerts, educational outreach, and the preservation of the tradition of America’s unique art form: jazz. The Army Blues have performed at prestigious venues such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival, the famous Birdland jazz club in New York City, and the legendary jazz club Blues Alley club in Washington, DC. Chicago’s COVID-19 Plan
2021 is here and Chicago has been diligently preparing for the re-opening of our city and McCormick Place. The City of Chicago and State of Illinois’ number one goal has been and will continue to be the health of our residents and visitors.
With this in mind, Choose Chicago and McCormick Place have produced a digital, interactive journey called Healthy Meetings Chicago. The Healthy Meetings Chicago Journey details the new health and safety procedures our city and partners have implemented to combat the COVID-19 virus. This experience starts as one of our meetings’ attendees or exhibitors journey would start – on an airplane and at one of Chicago’s two international airports, O’Hare and Midway Airports – and continues to the McCormick Place Campus where new health and sanitation measures, air filtration, food safety, etc. are reviewed for Campus Hotels and McCormick Place Buildings via hotspots featuring photography, film and voiceover. Our interactive journey ends with hotspots detailing networking events, restaurants and Chicago’s many unique, diverse neighborhoods and attractions.
The City is currently in Phase 5 of the Reopening Chicago Plan. This is the final phase before removing all restrictions and is focused on protecting vulnerable populations. For more information about the Reopening Phases and an up-to-date status report, click on the Reopening Chicago link below.
