‘Women In Jazz’ Exhibit Continues Successful Run

Share This:

This fall has been good to a remarkable photo exhibit at New York’s  Sidney Mishkin Gallery titled “Women in Jazz.” The show, which features photos by the Russian-born Lena Adasheva, Enid Farber, and Fran Kaufman, offers intimate glimpses at female jazz performers from across several decades. The Wall Street Journal wrote of one photo, “Ms. Adasheva’s glorious picture “Carmen Lundy” (2010) shows how much she absorbed from her study of classic jazz photographers Herman Leonard and William Gottlieb.” The NY Daily News also gave the exhibit high marks, noting that Adasheva’s “style goes beyond documentation to show what’s special about a musician, and what she feels about their music visually.”

The exhibit is on view at the Sidney Mishkin Gallery, Baruch College through December 12, 2012. Visit the website at www.baruch.cuny.edu [http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/wsas/artsculture/mishkingallery/current.html]
