The performance, which took place on Wednesday, June 28, combined art forms using a “live video” performance with audience participation that explored themes of social justice, freedom, and the human toll on oppression.

DC bassist and musical director Michael Bowie organized the program.

“The sociopolitical climate is rife with overt and undercurrent issues, all of which can bring musicians together to make a positive difference,” said Bowie.  The musical styles in the project will include include jazz, hip hop, dance, and film.

The video will be distributed to organizations including Americans for the Arts, ArtChangeUS: Arts in a Changing America, JazzCorner.com, The Recording Academy, and AfroPunk.
