Berklee Prepares for Beantown Jazz Fest

Share This:

Coming up next weekend at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston is the music school’s annual Beantown Jazz Festival. The festival this year will feature performances over four days by pioneering talents Melody Gardot, Geri Allen, Joanne Brackeen, Bela Fleck and the Marcus Roberts Trio.

Grammy nominated Gardot brings a suave aesthetic to the stage with trademark husky voice and one-of-a-a-kind stage presence. Gardot has overcome incredible odds after suffering severe head and spinal injuries in a car crash in 2003, using her years of recovery and continuing circumstances (hypersensitivity to light, unpredictable neural damage) and adapting them into unforgettable music and performances. The internationally renowned pianist Geri Allen will join the visionary JoAnne Brackeen (a recent JAZZed cover artist) for a night of amazing dual pianos. The incomparable banjo master Bela Fleck continues his recent collaboration with the great Marcus Roberts and his trio.
